What is difference between Synthroid and levothyroxine?

Synthroid is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. Synthroid is approved to treat primary hypothyroidism and to treat secondary (submental) hypothyroidism.

The study compared Synthroid and a solution containing only Carboplatin, a drug used to treat thyroiditis. The two studies cited that a prevalence of between 15-30% and 29-60% for men with MS and a prevalence of as high as 52% for men without MS were considered to be potentially significant.

The authors identified several limitations of the study.

The evidence may include: medical history; details of any other medications taken; symptoms; physical examination; psychological examination; statements from the patient’s doctor; information from the patient’s family regarding the purpose of the prescription; information from a psychiatrist; and/or pharmacist’s statement. Patients are included in the study if they smoke more than 25 cigarettes per day and for more than 3 months. In general, the studies reported somnolence as a reason why patients stopped study treatment, compared with only one study cited in the actual world.
