Can you take Strattera twice a day?

Vyvanse (Generic Name: lisdexamfetamine strattera pill, lisdexamfetasil) is a selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children ages 6 years and older, adolescents, and adults. It is a selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI). Strattera is a controlled substance and therefore must be used under a strict legal code which is called the Controlled Substances Act which is the federal law that defines controlled substances as those that have a high potential for abuse and those that are easily diverted. However, it has been studied in children as young as 3 years old.

Strattera is a prescription medicine approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat adults with ADHD who did not meet ADHD diagnostic criteria. It was the first prescription medication used to treat ADHD.

Is Strattera the best ADHD medication for me?

Strattera and Concerta are both NDRRTs used to treat ADHD.

Adderall is an amphetamine-based stimulant prescription medicine. Strattera is a brand name for a generic drug called atomoxetine that contains the same active ingredient as the brand name version of the drug. Adderall is a type of stimulant that affects specific chemical messengers in the nervous system called neurotransmitters, which are chemicals that enables the nerve signals or neural transmission that improve symptoms of ADHD.

Strattera and Ritalin are used to treat ADHD symptoms, but not for long-term treatment. Although no studies have evaluated if Strattera is safe in combination with medication, it is important to note that Strattera does not treat ADHD or MST. Due to the risk of serotonin syndrome, concomitant use of sertraline with other serotonergic drugs (including triptans, tricyclic antidepressants, fentanyl, lithium, tramadol, tryptophan, amphetamines, and St. John's Wort) may lead to a risk of serotonin syndrome, a potentially fatal condition. Like other antidepressants, Strattera helps release fewer noradrenergic “reuptake” so these medications are more effective in reducing ADHD symptoms. What is the ideal Strattera dosage?

The maximum recommended dose of Strattera is one 50-milligram tablet. There is 25mg, 50mg, and 100mg. The shorter-term formulations are taken daily and can be used in combination with other medications for a more complete solution. If your doctor has prescribed a specific dosage for your child, the dosage they recommend can vary.

For children with severe ADHD and those who have not responded to treatment with a full dose, the recommended dose is 6.75 mg per kg of body weight per day or 120 mg per day. This dose can be increased or decreased based on individual efficacy and tolerability.

The maximum dose of Strattera that can be taken is 100 mg daily. The maximum recommended dose is 100mg/day.

As with all prescription medication, follow your prescription instructions exactly as directed. Strattera is taken orally once daily.

Strattera can increase the absorption of certain medications, and it can make it harder to absorb certain medications, such as other antidepressants. These side effects may be reduced or eliminated with an appropriate adjustment in the dosage. According to a 2018 review, Strattera did increase the risk of serious cardiovascular adverse events (1.8 percent) over the course of a year. The first dose is usually a morning dose, the second a afternoon and the third a evening. It may be taken at any time during the day, as long as 24 hours between doses. It is best to take it at the same time each day for the best results.

Capsules should be swallowed whole and should not be chewed, crushed, or broken. If you or your child cannot swallow a pill, you can give your child the prescribed dose of the medication.

Don’t increase your dosage of Strattera without checking with your doctor.

Your doctor may check your blood pressure, heart rate, and blood cholesterol levels at any time during treatment. What are the side effects of Strattera?

Side effects of Strattera Side effects can vary depending on the person taking Strattera and can include: Trouble sleeping Nausea Vomiting Constipation Dizziness Drowsiness Weight loss Elevated blood sugar Possible side effects of Strattera can include: Severe headache Severe nausea Abdominal pain Abdominal cramps Diarrhea Stomach pain Severe and unusual drowsiness Loss of coordination Increased thirst Dizziness Lightheadedness Symptoms of a serious side effect can include: Diarrhea Difficulty breathing Severe dizziness Swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat Rash Severe headache Severe pains in your muscles Severe nausea and vomiting Signs of a serious side effect may include: Severe headache Severe dizziness Swelling of your hands, feet or ankles Severe and painful erection that lasts more than 4 hours Unusual tiredness Symptoms of a side effect that could indicate a serious problem, such as: Drowsiness or weakness Problems with vision or hearing Fever Severe nausea or vomiting Severe abdominal pain Severe and unusual bruising Severe and unusual bruising Fever If you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with Strattera, contact your doctor immediately. Atomoxetine is also used to treat binge-eating disorder in adults. Although antipsychotics are not approved for other mental illnesses by the FDA, many people with bipolar disorder have other symptoms, including trouble sleeping and difficulty concentrating, that make it difficult to diagnose. Symptoms such as agitation, irritability, aggressiveness, akathisia (psychomotor restlessness), hypomania, mood changes, and suicidal ideation may also occur during Strattera treatment. Paxil is approved for the treatment of depression, but it is also approved to treat OCD and panic. Strattera is used in the treatment of major depressive disorder. There have been numerous criticisms of Paxil, including the belief that it can cause people to become suicidal. Call your healthcare provider right away if you or your child start to feel more depressed, have thoughts about suicide or self-harm, or start acting out when you are not supposed to. If you have liver problems, discuss with your doctor how this medication may affect your liver function and how serious your liver problems may be. The generic version of Strattera, or atomoxetine, was previously approved in 2011 and 2012, according to the FDA. Call your doctor right away if you or your child have any of the following serious side effects: severe side effects outside of the recommended use; liver damage, including symptoms that may include: nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, itching, yellowing of Check with your doctor right away if you have any of the following symptoms, as they may be related to Strattera: fast heart rate, pounding heartbeats or fluttering in your chest; confusion, anxiety, irritability Zyprexa can cause a serious heart problem (e.g., fast heart rate, high blood pressure, heart failure, and arrhythmia).

Stop taking Strattera and call your doctor if you or your child have any unusual side effects, such as chest pain, shortness of breath, chest pain, or dizziness.

What should I avoid while taking Strattera?

What may interact with Strattera?

Before taking Strattera, tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Strattera can adversely interact with a wide range of medications.
